Privacy Policy

Trailer Trash Studios Pty Ltd (we, our, us) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect on www.trailertrash.co (“Site”), how we use it, and your rights. We comply with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (the APPs) and applicable European data protection laws (GDPR) in handling personal data. We follow transparent information-handling practices as required by these laws. If you are from the EU, you also have certain rights under the GDPR (for example, the right to erasure or “right to be forgotten” for your personal data). This policy applies globally, and we may update it from time to time (changes will be posted on the Site).

Information We Collect

  • Email Address. If you subscribe to our newsletter or mailing list, we collect the email address you provide. We use this to send you updates and movie trailer news (only if you opt in). You can unsubscribe or withdraw consent at any time. We will not add you to any list without your consent.

  • Usage Data (Analytics). We use cookies and web analytics to collect information about how visitors use the Site (for example, pages visited, time spent on pages, and referral data). This may include your device type, browser, IP address (often anonymized), and page views. We use Google Analytics (via Google Tag Manager) to analyze Site traffic. Google Analytics transmits data to Google servers (which may be outside Australia) but does not identify individual users or connect your IP address with other Google data. We use the reports to improve the Site.

  • Cookies and Tracking. We use cookies to enhance your experience. A cookie is a small text file placed on your device to remember preferences and improve Site functionality. Our cookies may store an anonymized user ID or remember choices you make. For example, a cookie may record your acceptance of cookies or your subscription status. Our use of cookies is limited to: (a) essential cookies for basic Site function, and (b) analytics cookies (via Google Analytics/Tag Manager) to understand usage patterns. You can refuse cookies by adjusting your browser settings (e.g. disable cookies). However, if you block cookies, certain features of the Site may not work properly.

  • Subscriber Management (Zoho CRM). When you submit your email for our newsletter, we store that information using Zoho CRM, a secure customer relationship management service. Zoho processes your data under strict privacy controls and is committed to never selling your information. Zoho may store or process data in Australia, the USA, the EU or other locations where Zoho operates. We do not collect any other personal data (e.g. we do not require you to create an account, nor do we collect payment details or highly sensitive information). We do not collect personal data from children; the Site is not directed to children under 16.

How We Use Your Information

  • Newsletter and Updates. If you subscribe, we use your email to send the newsletter and occasional updates about movie trailers. We will not share your email with other parties for marketing. You can unsubscribe anytime by clicking the link in our emails or contacting us.

  • Improving the Site. We use analytics data to analyze and improve Site performance and content. For instance, we may use Google Analytics reports to see which pages are popular or where visitors come from.

  • Legal and Safety. We may use and disclose information if required by law or to protect our legal rights (for example, to comply with a subpoena, prevent fraud, or address security issues).

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We do not send you advertisements from other organizations. Data collected is used only for the purposes stated above.

  • YouTube Embeds. Our Site embeds videos from YouTube. Viewing an embedded video may cause YouTube to set its own cookies and collect usage data (according to Google’s policies). Embedded content “behaves in the exact same way as if [you] visited the other website,” meaning those websites (like youtube.com) may collect data about you, use cookies, and track your interaction with the content. We encourage you to review YouTube’s privacy policy for details. We have no control over YouTube’s data practices.

  • Google Analytics/Tag Manager. We use Google Analytics (via Google Tag Manager) for site analytics as described above. Google may also set cookies. Google’s processing is governed by their privacy policy (google.com/policies/privacy).

  • Zoho CRM. Subscriber emails are processed by Zoho. Zoho’s privacy policy (zoho.com/privacy) applies to how Zoho handles the data. Zoho will not use your email except to provide the CRM service to us (and we only use it to send you the newsletter).

  • Other Links. Our Site may link to other websites (e.g. social media or external references). If you click a link and visit another site, this Privacy Policy no longer applies. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other sites. We recommend you read their privacy policies.

International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred or stored outside your country. For example, Google’s servers (for Analytics) may be in the United States. Zoho may process data in the USA, EU, or other countries. When we transfer personal data overseas, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as EU Standard Contractual Clauses) to protect your information, in compliance with applicable law.

Your Rights

Under Australian law (the Privacy Act), you have rights to access and correct personal information we hold about you.. Specifically, you may:

  • Access. Request a copy of your personal data (e.g. your email) that we hold.

  • Correction. Request that we update or correct any inaccurate or incomplete personal data.

We will respond to such requests promptly (usually within 30 days) and in accordance with legal requirements. If you are in the EU, you also have rights under the GDPR, including erasure of your data (the “right to be forgotten”), data portability, and the right to restrict or object to processing. While the Australian Privacy Act does not explicitly grant the right to erasure, we will honor reasonable requests to delete your personal data (for example, if you withdraw consent or unsubscribe) wherever legally possible. To exercise your rights, please contact us (see below).

If you subscribed to our newsletter, you can withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing from the mailing list or contacting us. This will stop further use of your email for newsletters.

If you believe we have breached your privacy or want to raise a complaint, you can contact us first (see below) and, if unresolved, you may contact the Australian Information Commissioner or the relevant EU supervisory authority.
